Where to Park

FOR SHOPPING please parallel park at the FRONT side of the building. Walk up the red stairs towards the main entrance and once inside the store, turn right. 

The Marine Thrift Shop is not the only occupant in the building and to be respectful, the back parking lot is reserved for the rest of the building employees. 

The only exceptions to the back parking lot are those that require handicap ramp access and shoppers with strollers.

Pricing Guide

When shopping, you may see that there will be many items priced with different colored stickers. To the right, you will see our sticker pricing guide.

Items such as clothing are priced at a set amount, you will be able to find these prices framed within the shop. 

Our Reward/Stamp Card

Did you know that for every $5 spent, you get a stamp? Once you fill up your stamp card, it will count as a $5 reward that may be applied to your next purchase.

How to Donate

When donating, please enter through the donations entrance where you will be greeted by a staff member DURING DONATION HOURS ONLY. Do not leave anything outside where items could get soiled, stolen, or create a fire hazard.

Here is a map of where to enter. Please go in through the donations entrance (YELLOW ARROW).

Off Site Donation Pick Ups Now Available!

Our next off-site donation pick-up will be April 20th for 0900 to 1100 on Camp McTureous.

We will be accepting donations for Marine Thrift Shop and Neighborhood Pantry Camp Butler. 

Want to run an off-site donation drive for the community?

WE DO NOT ACCEPT

Please bring items in plastic bags or boxes. We can no longer accept donations in plastic bins unless they have a lid.​

If donating electronics, TVs or anything with a cord, we will test these items before you leave the donations area. Thank you so much for your patience and cooperation. 

We are unable to accept anything that has “oki” rust, holes, is worn out, stained, or is missing pieces. Here is a list of other items we cannot accept:

  • Dehumidifiers or humidifiers.
  • Toddler training toilets
  • Hair clippers/ trimmers
  • Printers
  • Car seats or cribs
  • Used bed pillows. Decorative pillows are okay.
  • Expired food
  • Recalled items or items that do not meet safety standards
  • Carpeting with stains or rips
  • Easy bake ovens
  • Copiers, fax machines, computers, large monitors, smoke detectors
  • Medical equipment, including crutches
  • Large furniture with rust or other damages
  • Extra-large appliances (I.e. stoves, refrigerators, dryers, etc.)
  • Ammunition or weapons
  • Large automobile parts. Auto accessories are okay.
  • Chemicals. Home cleaning products are okay.
  • Construction debris. Garden bricks are okay at the manager’s discretion.
  • Large standing exercise equipment.
  • Hazardous waste like lead-acid batteries, fuel, paint, oils, etc.) 

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can't you take our trash?

The Marine Thrift Shop is not able to take any items that are not useable for donations. If we deem an item unusable, we will ask that you take the item with you to dispose of properly. The reason for this is that Marine Thrift Shop is only allotted certain weights and amounts for trash pickup, and it is an added cost to our organization. Since bulk pickup is free in housing we ask that you utilize this service to eliminate the need for outstanding costs to the Shop. If you cannot utilize bulk pickup in housing, Kadena has a recycling center that you can utilize.

Why are you appointment only on Saturday?

Saturday is our biggest shopping day of the week and we ask that our staff is present for our shop. Donations are by appointment only so we can be readily available to donations and the shop as needed.

Why don't you take stamp cards on holidays or sales?

Since our items are already heavily discounted on sale days, we do not accept stamp cards at that time. Holiday items are limited, and we cannot accept them for those items either.

Why don’t you sell uniform items if we want to get more than 5?

Legally, we cannot resell uniform pieces. 

Why can’t my spouse pick up uniform items for me?

We must identify the service member and ensure that only 5 items per month are being given. We must also identify the branch of service so as to ensure that the service member is only utilizing the service for their own uniform items.
